Fragments Of Friday

Mommy's Idea
Oh, my! Is it really Friday already!? I think because Hubby has been on days this week, it's gone by faster than usual. Really not fair, but we'll deal. =)

I pulled out the blankets I am crocheting for my mom and brother earlier this week. They should have been done a long time ago {like last month!} but I haven't worked on them much. I just want them to get done so I can move on to the preemie hats. I need to get some things up on my Etsy shop as well. {I would link, but there's nothing there...}

This is the blanket I made for myself. It only took me about three weeks to do, but then my mom and brother both decided they wanted one, too. My brother decided to be difficult and want his black and green striped. It's a pain in the ass changing colors that much.

I finally got to work on my novel. I have 129 pages of it printed out, and thought it would be easy to do this re-write. I lied. I scrapped the whole first chapter {10 pages worth}. I changed it from 3rd person to 1st person, and am starting it after all the drama of the first chapter. I realized how boring it was to have FMC sitting in the ER to wait to hear her best friend had died. 10 pages of that was enough to kill anyone. So, I am diligently {or not so} working on getting the first chapter finished in it's rawest form for a novel swap I'm hosting this weekend.

Speaking of novel swap, anyone wanna join it? It will be through email, about 10 pages at a time {more or less depending} and right now it looks like about once a month. Email me if you'd like to be on the list!!

I am submitting my application for college today. I am super nervous as I want this really bad! I am hoping to be accepted into a Bachelor's program in General Psychology. My ultimate goal is to earn a PhD. in Clinical Psychology, and this is the first step. I am trying not to get my hopes up too much. While everything is going amazing {I got the $50 application fee waived!!} and I am confident I can pass the placement tests, I still have a fear that I will not get accepted. In that case, I will attend the local community college and get an Associates of Arts, which is basically general education that I can transfer to this other college in 2 years or so. But, it would be nice to skip the first two years and get to the PhD quicker.

So, everyone keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck!!

I am also trying to get in touch with an enrollment counsellor at a school that teaches massage therapy in the city. I've wanted to do massage for a couple years now. I know I will have to travel for that {one of the many joys of living in a small town...}. The thought of possibly having to leave my kids at home, only to see them on weekends, scares me. I know they would be in good hands, I know that it would better all of us, but being a stay-at-home momma the last 4 years has spoiled them and me. But, we'll see how the rest of this pans out first. Maybe I'll toss the kids at Grandma and Grandpa for the summer. =)

Well, I guess I should get some breakfast {considering it's 10 am already} and finish up this essay before I have to get K from school. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Wow! You have a lot going on! I'm impressed: knitter, novelist and soon to be a student. Very cool!

You are so creative- I tried to crochet a throw for myself and I think I lost a few stitches here and there- it got a bit narrower as I went along- now it's about 1/10th of the way done and just sitting there. I'm tired of starting over :-)

Good luck with college...as far as the massage stuff, do you have a place in your house (spare room, out building) where customers could come to you?

Anyhoo, I'm visiting from Friday Fragments...

I would love for you to check out The Blogging Buddies...dedicated visitors and comments!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks, everyone! :)

Carolee - I really don't have a place in my house {we've stuffed 5 people in a small 3 bedroom}, but I still have to do the schooling and licencing, and the closest schools are 2 1/2 hours away... I do have an almost brand new massage table though. :) Once I get that all done, it will be no problem findng a job. There are about 3 massage places, a physical therapy, and two hair salons that offer massage.
